“A special place to stay” 9/11/2011
We stayed at the Pastorij for a week (end of September 2011).
We enjoyed our stay very much and especially the hospitality of Peter, the owner, who made us feel at home.
We got the largest room which included additional sitting area and a very large bathroom.
In addition we used a closed parking space of the hotel for our car, during our stay.
Even though we also visited Brussels, Gehnt and Antwerp during that week we decided to stay at this hotel and return to it every day. This was proven to be a good decision…
The hotel is situated just by the old town. The Theology dept. of the Catholic University of Leuven is just next door. This was convenient for my wife who attended a conference there.
On out last day we had to check-out but needed to store our luggage for the day – when we asked Peter, he said: “Everything is possible in the Pastorij!” and he helped us taking our suitcases down the stairs…Everything else was already mentioned in other reviews – the unique decoration, the lovley and tastey breakfast, the free wireless Internet and the home atmosphere.
We will certainly come back next time we visit Belgium.
“Convenient, Central, Comfortable, and Quaint” 4/11/2011
The seven rooms in a former rectory — with liturgical artefacts and fascinating art pieces that are simply museum quality — are personalized and unique. Peter indeed makes one feel at home. I arrived early, was accommodated graciously, and shown to a terrific room in the rafters. The bed was great, storage excellent. The continental breakfast is extraordinary with delicious cheeses and meats as well as cereals and croissants and good coffee, juices and fruit. I have stayed in numerous B+Bs and will try to get back to this one every time I am in Leuven. From rooms in the front, one can hear happy students on the street quite late, but that would be true anywhere in Leuven.
“Great place to stay” 29/10/2011
This is a very fine high end B&B ideally located in the heart of the old city in Leuven. Provided you are at ease with Catholic religious symbols, crosses, candles, vestments and sacred books, being used for decor, then you will enjoy your stay. The rooms, while not all hotel-size, are nonetheless beautifully furnished and well kept. The proprietors are very attentive and helpful, and the breakfasts are really good. You can get cheaper hotel rooms in Leuven but you would be missing something in terms of the unique atmosphere of this guest house.
“A wonderful place to stay in a beautiful city” 21/9/2011
From the moment you enter Gasthof de Pastorji you feel at home. This is not just because it is extremely comfortable, with lovely, well decorated rooms, but because the owner, Peter, makes sure you feel at home. He is friendly, informative, amusing, interesting and extremely welcoming. The breakfast is lovely – lots of delicious pastries as well as cold meats, hams, fresh fruit, etc, not to mention the delicious coffee, which is available throughout the day in the breakfast room or the lovely outdoor terrace. I was in a large suite on the top floor, with a sitting room/study as well as a large, comfortable bedroom, which was great for catching up on emails in the evenings with the free internet service. All in all, a perfect place to stay in a perfect city.
“A Unique Experience” 20/12/2011
Staying at the Pastorij was a really great and unique experience. The bedroom and bathroom made us feel like Barons in a Castle, walking through the corridors was like living on a Middle-Ages Church. The service was just outstanding, with the best breakfast ever (different types of cheeses, breads and pastries), free coffee and chocolates anytime. Peter (the manager) was kind and helpful, always trying to make our stay the best of the experiences. Truth is, we have stayed in 7 different Hotels between Belgium, Germany and Venice, and none gets even close to the quality asnd greatness of Pastorij. We recommend it in the strongest of terms. Staying there will make your visit to Leuven a unique experience. Don´t miss it.
Great job Peter, and thanks.

“Wonderful would highly recommend “18/6/2011
I am so happy to have stayed in this little jewel of a hotel. I was in Leuven for only one night and was so impressed with the fantastic location; right in the heart of the old city. My room was enormous overlooking the pretty inner courtyard, and the breakfast was lovely offering fresh fruit, cheese, ham, cereials, and a wonderful variety of bread.
Peter is the perfect host taking a personal interest in all of the guests and their specific needs. He made sure to talk to each of us in the breakfast room to see if he could be of any help in the planning of our day, kindly printing train schedules and offering advice. I would love to return to Leuven it is a beautiful city, and I would definitely stay at the Gasthof De Pastorij.
“Delightful De Pastorij” 13/6/2011
We spent a lovely 2 days with Peter at the Guesthouse. He is the most welcoming and accomodating host. The house has an interesting history and the furniture and decorations create a real unique environment that represent this history perfectly.
There is the added bonus of a super courtyard garden an haven of peace in the middle of the city
The breakfast is probably one of the best we have had on our many travels. Its clear that It is clear that Peter loves running the guesthouse and that this has a really postive impact on the atmostphere of the place.
“hidden gem” 5/6/2011
This is one of the best B&B’s I ever slept. It was so cosy, the breakfast was delicious, the cava very good and cheaply priced, located in the center of the city, and the host was very charming and helpfull. When we will stay in Leuven, we surely will stay here again (and my parents-in-law share this vision).
By the way, the reason of visiting Leuven was the diner in Luzine (restaurant of Jeroen Meus), although it had no Michelin star yet, It really deserves one or two stars.
“Perfect bed and breakfast” 12/4/2011
I went to Leuven for business on January 2011 and decided to go to Gasthof de Pastorij B & B. It is just one of the best hotel I have ever been to. The place is really beautifully decorated, very warm.
The owner is really nice and very helpful and just makes you feel you’re at home, even if you are away from home.
The room was so cosy, comfortable, nicely decorated (old furnitures that gives a life to the room) and pretty big.
The wireless works perfectly, the bathroom is really good, with a bunch of bathroom amenities.
The breakfast was also fabulous, with a lot of choce and fresh product.
